Cassandra Ferder is the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff and joined the Early Learning Division (ELD) in March 2016. Her primary responsibilities include providing executive and technical assistance to the Chief of Staff, Kim Parker, and Operations Officer, Sonja Svenson, and serving as leader of the Administrative Team. A native Oregonian, Cassandra has resided in Salem much of her life, and has been employed with the State of Oregon since 1997, working in natural resources, legislation, Indian services, and now, with us in education.
“It’s important to know we’re working towards being a team that provides cohesive technical and administrative support, while promoting equity, harmony, and breaking down silos, to the division,” Cassandra shared about the work of the team. “Everyone on the Administrative Team is an equitable team player!”
As part of the ELD, Cassandra finds the people we serve – children birth through age five – the most motivating. “I think the ELD is a precious commodity of the state, and I love and take great pride in being a part of a system that improves our state and the lives of children.”
The Administrative Team, comprised of Cassandra, Karen Byerley, Christina Garcia, Aarika Guerrero, Linda Jones, and Teresa Waite, was formed as the Division’s administrative network to provide customer service, administrative, and technical assistance to the executives and staff of the Early Learning Division. As Team Lead, Cassandra is setting the team’s primary goals of undergoing cross-training so the team can support each other and the entire ELD team seamlessly.
